Day #6: Revolve Doesn't Cut the 3D Body

Issue:

Revolve Doesn't Cut the Hex Nut 3D Body in Fusion 360.

Solution:

First, check that you're using the blue solid modeling Revolve command and not the orange surface modeling Revolve command.

Next, make sure to select the correct origin plane when creating the triangle sketch. Check the ViewCube to see what axis is set to the "up" orientation.

Y-up: Select the XY origin plane when creating the triangle sketch.
Z-up: Select the YZ origin plane when creating the triangle sketch.

Change Default Modeling Orientation in Fusion 360

Open your Preferences dialog by selecting your Username (upper right-hand corner) > Preferences

In the General (default) tab, change the Default modeling orientation to "Y up" or "Z up" > Apply > Close.
